Lots of hospital dressings, cotton wool, cotton wads, bandages etc are white. The green cloths are sterile and re-sterilized for the next use and repacked for the hospital or O.T. At the end of any procedure all the instruments, dressings etc are disposed of in different directions. The dark green cloths are packaged to be re-sterilized for the next procedure. The color aids sorting and identifies the cloths as reusable.

Gray colours worn by people who works in transferring patients between words and transferring sample to the laboratories for analysis...
It helps in differentiating the grades of employees in the hospital also.
(Also, has it got to do with international colour coding or so ?? not so sure about this)....!
