I saw an eldely lady in the store who wanted to buy a coat yesterday. She was short $10.00, I had a bonus coupon, and gave it to her. I am not bragging. I just want you to know how the spiirit of Christmas made me feel just by doing this small thing.

Wouldn't it be great to personally give of yourself in other ways to the disadvantaged, whether it be donations, or a day in the soup kitchen?

Funny you should ask, because last night I was on my way home from my son's high school band concert, and we came across a young lady stuck in an intersection. Turns out, she just ran out of gas, but she was pretty scared. Turns out the cell phone towers were out, because neither of our phones worked. So we pushed the car off the road, and I told her to lock herself in the car, I would be right back. I got my gas can from my house, put 4 gallons in it, and went back to her. After putting the gas in, I told her where to go for more, and sent her on her way. Cost me $10, but at least she was safely on the road, and I really hope someone returns the favor if my daughter or son runs out of gas in some other town 50 miles from home.

Occationaly, I see someone on a street corner, with a sign, i.e., 'will work for food'.
Irregardless of the day, month, season of year, I do not give money, rather, I will go to a grocery store, and buy such things as soup with the zip open tops, a loaf of bread, and especially fruit. LOTS of fruit. I put these items into a double bag, and as I go back through that intersection, I roll down the window, and simply hand it to him, and yes, occationally a her.
When ever I see anyone in this condition / position of life, I ALWAYS remember an old saying, mentioned several times, when I was much younger (+/- 60 years ago), ""THERE, BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD, GO I "".
And yes, at this time of year, I 'weed' out some old clothers, and those that are fairly new but too small, make sure they are clean, and donate them to "THE SALVATION ARMY'.
The good feelings I get, are far more valuable than the cost of the fruit, and or clothes.
'Those who matter, do appreciate'.

I love doing stuff like this it makes me feel really good about myself. I know that I have a lot more then other people so at this time of the year as well as all year I usually donate money to the salvation army and I always by food and other essentials for the groups standing outside the stores asking for stuff for animals or the homeless. also this year I was a Salvation Army Angel and I chose two little girls to buy Christmas gifts for. It was such a great feeling knowing that those little kids will get what they asked for, for Christmas! Also I would like to say good for you and everyone else out there for helping out those in need! I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

My grandson and I decided to provide Christmas for two children that the Salvation Army had on their Christmas Wish tree this year. I've always made sure that my children knew the meaning of giving by purchasing a toy or two for a group called Toys for Tots and of course adding money to the bell ringers buckets. My grandson loved shopping for these children and so did I. I may just pick out a few more names on the tree and do it again as there appear to be several children left who haven't been picked out. In Texas, you can find the trees at Walmart if you wish to get into the spirit of giving and give to those who cannot provide for themselves at this time. My costs were minimal as these children's needs and wishes were a lot lighter than most people I know of....smile.
I hope each and everyone of you has a very Merry Christmas.

I don't do this just at Christmas. If the person ahead of me in line at the store doesn't have enough money, I always hand them $5-$10. I don't want it back and just tell them....help somebody else sometime. Another thing I like to do is pay for the Taco Bell order in the car behind me. Can you imagine their faces when they get to the window to find out the order was already paid? It's fun. And doesn't cost much either! Just a random act of kindness that feels really good.

I try to do something here and there, the other day an elderly gentleman was coming out of a store with his hands full of packages and couldn't get the door no one would help him so I saw he was having a tough time and held the door for him.
I always help people in the grocery store who can't reach items on the top shelf..
I try to drop some change to the salvation army every time I see them outside a store. Every little bit helps someone in need.

I love people like you!!
I try to go out of my way every day to help others. May it be walking an elderly person to her car when she has a cane in one hand and bags in the other or just saying Merry Christmas to all I make eye contact with. And smile, you will be so surprised how many will smile back.
Merry Christmas to You and all the Y/A People!!!!!!!!!!!

What you did was a really nice thing to do, Bless you. The only thing I've done (like millions of others) is give money to beggers, but reading what you've done has made me want to do something really nice too now!
