As much as I am not a fan of the parents and I am fed up with spotlight on one small girl when thre are hundreds missing, I must admit that this sort of promise is stupid.

If he really knows where Kate and Gerry buried her, then why hasn't he told the Portuguese authorities?

Well if it is true, then great. But i think it was a stupid move publishing it. They may as well have told the abductor 'we're onto you'. But then, i think the media are always stupid, printing atricle's way too soon. But i think this has been taken out of context. There is no promise about maddie being home for Christmas...

"God willing, I hope that she will be back with her parents before Christmas."

I'm sorry to say this, but you are right about maddie's case having more spotlight, but i think the parents status took care of that from day one. Sad but true.

I am not against them, i bet if you looked at every parent in this world, you could find a fault that poses a massive risk to their child's safety, but luckily, nothing happens, so there is no 'witch hunt'. It is usually some thing simple, like remembering to turn the oven or iron off, whilst the children are in the garden. So when they are looking out for the child by protecting them from one thing, they endanger it them another way. But you can't blame them. Sadly maddie's situation was one of the time's where something bad did happen.
Yes i agree, they shouldn't have left them like that, but i am sure their guilt is punishing them enough for that.

If you look at the seller account he/she has already sold several today and has done it in the past for hospices etc It is disgusting to use the disappearance of this little girl to raise money, but (and this is only a small but) all publicity is good and you raising the matter on here is being seen by all YA users the world over

I find it hard to believe that instead of actually going to get this "abductor" the detective decides to warn him by telling the world he knows where Maddy is and who has her. Total c**p in my opinion or at the very least irresponsible.IF it was true.. Not only does the guy put Maddy in serious danger by this report he actually gives the alleged abductors time to cover themselves! Unbelievable!!

I think that Retardo3 make these promises in order to justify their continued payment from the fund. They also can help their clients in this way by releasing positive news when there's been any negative media attention.
It all seems very creepy and suspicious.

I think Firefoxy is right and I think it's irresponsible journalism. If Metodo 3 do know where Madeleine is, the media have blown it. OTOH it's in Metodo 3's interest to hold out hopes of her safe return...

My mum always taught me to never make promises that i can not keep unfortunately this guy obviously was not taught that ..

It is impossible for her to be home for christmas and anyone with an ounce of a brain would have come to that conclusion some time ago

Such a statement puts the childs life at risk that is if she still is alive. The agency should now be made to hand over any information to the Police.

I am surprised, but not very

scenario goes like this:
reporter calls private eye
reporter: hows things going with the case
Private eye: we're making progress
reporter: what's the chance of getting her back by christmas
Private eye: well we would all like that
reporter: so, you're working towards that?
Private: we are all working towards that

Reporter to editor : Private eye says he's hoping to have the kid back by xmas

front page news: Private eye says kid will be back by xmas

I dont know the exact words, or series of events that have led to this story, but I know the way the media works

and you wondered why celebrities ALWAYS say 'No Comment'?

For £50,000 the agency will milk it for as long as the money keeps flowing. Think it's irresponsible to make such claims.
