Cereals here in UK.
The most important of the cereal crops is of course "barley" as in "barley mow". Barley is the cereal which when malted and with hops added, and the magic booze potion, turns by some magic means into beer. The drink of the British.
A historical note concerning UK is that the Romans came, saw and conquered etc., not for new slaves, but for our golden wheat harvest. Britain quite literally can produce two harvests a year - at least that is the claim made by the classical Greeks in reference to Breten.

Nearly two-thirds of the world's farmland is used to grow cereals, including barley, maize, millet, oats, rye and wheat. However, the basic food of about half of the world's people is rice, which flourishes in warm, wet areas, especially in Asia. The popular custom of throwing rice at weddings probably originated in India.

I think that rice would be the number one, with bread grains (wheat, rye, oats, etc) being in the seconary group, maybe with potatoes.
