You don´t need you´re global Ip to connect the local...

You will have to set your IP manually because you don´t get an IP from the DHCP-server of your router.

So go to Control panel >> network connections >> LAN-Connection >> Properties >> TCP/IP (double click) and set your IP manually

As IP you should use the IP of the router. Just change the last digit to whatever you like. It just can´t be the same like the routers.

If that´s done you should be able to reconnect to your router and can try to configure it correctly.

If that all sounds too complicated just reset the router to factory default and DHCP server should be acitvated by default. How to do that should be written in the manual.

Good Luck!

The easiest way to recover from this is to hold the reset button on the back for ten seconds using a paperclip. Afterwards, momentarily cycle the power on the router. That will set it to factory default and you can start over with the setup. Suggest using a cable connection instead of wireless to do the configuration.

AS was stated before you need to get a paper clip and reset your router back to the original factory settings. you will see the button on the back of your Linksys router. Once you have done that recycle the power on your cable modem, while your router is off, and once that power comes up plug in your router. If your wanting to configure your router from that point you will need to plug in to it directly with a cable and your address should be 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.0.1 but check your documentation to verify. But from there you should be up and running.
