This has been a concern for me too actually. I just had my 30th birthday in October and I guess I felt like I had to become a grown-up instantly. I am pretty immature at times but I think I have it figured out: when you HAVE to be mature, be mature. If you don't have to be, have fun and enjoy life however you feel like it.

There's a big difference in growing up and being mature and responsible.

Being mature and responsible should be something that you start a young age. Both maturity and responsibility will "fill out" over time due to experience and sheer dedication. At your age (of 32), I would say that you should, by this time, be both mature and responsible. If not, then you need to evaluate what is possibly forming a handicap for you in this area and try to work on that. Things don't happen overnight, so take it slowly.

If the above is not what you meant (and this is entirely possible), "growing up" can mean many things. I take it here to mean that you relate "growing up" with "growing old" and there doesn't need to be a correlation. I know many 90-year-olds that are so young at heart, you'd never know they were 90. Our spirit (in the attribute way, not the "religious way"), when mixed with a little playfulness, can make us forever young - and there's no problem with this at all. The only problem it might cause is allowing you to enjoy life's ups and downs a little more. People that love life (or at least try to do so) never grow old. =)

My dear young lady.....

We have been growing up since we were born.......BUT

in TWO positions, I assure you 100% you will come to know that you had readily grown up by all means...

1) When you have your first born baby....

2) When u reach the age of 40....

Point # 1 above moves u into an entirely different world that is mostly characterized with RESPONSIBILITIES.....

the least you would be start thinking [ about / of / on / with ] is the reason WHY U WERE BROUGHT INTO THIS WORLD IN THE FIRST PLACE...

You would then realize the reason behind it is your kids.....

This sort of feeling & thinking will make you feel like you have grown up; whether u like it or not...

Point # 2 above is what is called RATIONAL AGE....

You will feel u r becoming different....STARTING WITH THE NEED FOR EYE GLASSES TO BE ABLE TO READ WHAT WAS DEAD EASY FOR YOU TO READ A YEAR BEFORE....looooooooooooool.....

I swear to God and I mean it......it sounds funny, but this is how you start feeling at 40....

So, combining Point 1 & 2 above will give u a tangible example of the undersigned being 47 years old now & feeling growing up with the days BY ALL MEANS...

so please honey.....Enjoy every bit of your age now, and never push to see or find out when u will grow up because OUT OF THE SUDDEN, u will join the club.....

Take it EZ dear.....

Have you heared the song with a Title "TIME" for "PINK FLOYD"

If you hadn't.....I advise you to buy it, hear it and learn it by heart....

and remember....

U R YOUNG & LIFE IS LONG.....
THERE IS TIME TO KILL TODAY.....

AND THEN ONE DAY YOU FIND......
TEN YEARS HAVE GONE GEHIND U.....

NO ONE TOLD U WHEN TO RUN....
U MISSED THE STARTING GUN.....

Some people don't, ever and why should you? Obviously as you grow older there are certain responsibilites and things that you need to take on board, but growing up, nah!! I am nearly 40 have a family and a full time job and that should make 'grown up' but I am not, by any stretch of the imagination. My nature is childish but in a good way I think!!!

I don't think we should be 'expected' to grow up. I think it all depends on the situation, sometimes you should act professional and well mannered like an adult, other times you just have to be a kid, relax and have fun!

no one grows up they just become more experienced. never try to grow up. why waste the time that you have on this earth by worrying about growing up. just grow old gracefully, and wait to do this at the last possible moment. enjoy and stop worrying life is to short.
