It was primarily a continuation of the first world war. You could argue that the intervening years were simply a truce, which was eventually broken by Germany attacking another country. Many people, British included, suported Hitlers political moves in relation the the treaty signed at the end of WW1.

Primarily, the World Wars were the final death throws of two world superpowers, (Until the Americans condecended to join the party - PS BDSM Slave Girly, shouldn't you be on Grommets forum with an handle like that?).

It was also Hitler using racial bigotry to gain power that led to his invasion plans in the first place. In Mein Kampf, Hitler states exactly what he saw as the vision of German future. The Germans needed more land. Russia had plenty that they were not using. Poland was in the way.

Also, Hitler assumed that he was playing a bluffing game. It came as quite a shock when Britain and France declared war.

In short, there were lots of reasons for the war. Ultimately, all participants suffered.

Luck

History collides with living memory when the participants are still alive. There is so much mythology around it that a dispassionate view is near impossible. IMO, the most significant outputs were the atomic bomb and the beginning of the end for colonialism. Both of these consequences are still unwinding.

A war that changed the way all future wars were fought. WWII tactics are still in use today, and the threat of nuclear (atomic) war still lingers. It's keeping another world war from being started as no one will truly win.

I don't like wars at all. I can't say which of the warriors where good, or which bad.... But they had a mistake, they started a war for none, they killed many many person...that was wrong. Hitler was wrong, nazism was not good. English were wrong, they could do a better job with solving the problem through peace...

I hate wars...Many men were killed, many families were gone...many...that was wrong, wrong, wrong....I never can say there were right.

i think that world war II was something that should not have happened. just think...if hitler would have been accepted to his art academy...world war II would never have happened. japan could have been dealt with diplomatically and then all those lives would not have been taken..
