It's nothing to worry about. It's just an irregularity. Happens to everyone. hear and there. It has nothing to do with tampons or anything like that, just hormones. An odd little tidbit... If you have been hanging out with new girls, or just more often with friends you already have your period can change to match the cycle of the "dominant" (the one who releases the most chemicals) girl.
But sometimes you just have off days. Both my ovaries are on two different cycles. I go 29 days then 33, 29, 33, 29, 33. Periods can be odd. Spotting (slight blood between periods) is perfectly normal.

Happens to me all the time since I was 13. If you want to give your period time to come like it's supposed to, try using pads. I think that somehow the tampons tell your body to block the flow and it shuts down until the pressure (tampon) is removed. Once your period starts coming at a normal pace, you MIGHT be able to use tampons then, but it all depends on your body. Everyone is different.

I've had this problem and I've gone to the doctor because of it. He told me it was a hormonal imbalance. I would say don't worry about it this time, but if it continues to happen, I would suggest you go to a doctor so that he can prescribe something to get your hormones in balance.

you can spot before your period starts. also- don't call it "dirty"- it's bloody. when was your last gyne check up? have you been having your periods long? are you sexually active? blah blah blah, these are all rhetorical questions by the way.
there can be so many reasons for this depending on all sorts of information!

Yellow on your knickers is subjective. If that is brownish yellow then particular yet yellow discharge sounds infectious. once you era is over make certain you dont see this nastiness on your drawers.

It could be normal, it could be you are pregnant, etc...
More information is needed.
