As we have seen for the last two years that Sehwag is not able to perform well in the ODI's as well as in the Test Matches and everyone is assuming him to be out of form. But is it applicable to assume some one out of form who is unable to perform well for two years?

Q. What would be the main reason behind Virender Sehwag's bad performance?

A. Sehwag's form has been rather inconsistent, since 2003 itself. where he had only one century and 3 fifties, two against minnows - Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and one against Pakistan, in 22 matches. Sehwag then started a two year streak without a century in ODIs, as well as having his ODI tour of Pakistan in early 2006 curtailed due to a shoulder injury. Sehwag's form has continued to decline, and he has now failed to pass 17 in his last seven games. India have won only two of those games. Sehwag started the 2007 World Cup in poor form, only being picked for the side because of Rahul Dravid's wishes.

He really needs to put his house back in order. He has the capability and talent to be at peak form again.

Correct. He’s a player who depends upon hand eye co-ordination. That’s the reason why he was so successful despite having a flawed technique. Beautiful cover drive without his feet moving. Only he could do it.And that was possible because of his great hand eye co-ordination. Plus, yes, he is low in confidence also as Shiva said.

he is good player. the last time i saw him perform in one days, it was against Sri Lanka in 2007 world cup. He made around 46 runs with a strike rate of above 100 --- thats good cricket.

Yeah India lost that match and was knocked out of world cup, but i don't see how his performance could be blamed.

Just lack of confidence, having to be careful to retain place in the team.
Such players should always be allowed to go after the bowling. He must be assured of a place for three consecutive matches. This should have been done already in the home series.

well virender sehwag is one player who is known for his long span of poor form, than good form. it is cliche to find him come with a spark of a good knock, once in a blue moon. his poor performance owes its inception to his poor technique and his equally despicable footwork. If he wants to find himself in indian international jersey he needs to work on these areas.

well if you observe clearly you see that sehwag has performed exceptionally well when the pitch is good for batting. in other words he can be very destructive if the pitch is good. so i guess he will play well in good pitches only and the selectors has taken him into the team for that reason

As they say "ITS ALL IN MIND". Cricket is played more in mind than on field. He lacks technique but he has been a success story earlier with that same technique n there is no reason why he can not fire again.
