why is it called australia for that matter, why is anything called anything................what the hell am I talking about?

Because with an Australian accent Australia comes out sounding kind of like Oztralya. It's just an abbreviation.

It's just wordplay. It's short for Aus, the first 3 letters. I think they changed the letters because some people might mispronouce Aus (like it might rhyme with mouse), but Oz is less likely to be mispronounced.

becuase thats how ya pronounce the Aus part of Australia.

with the australian accent anyway.
