I don't see any reason why anybody has the right to impose their beliefs upon others, which is why we need to separate church and state in this country and keep religious zealots as far as possible from the seat of government. The Christian Right has been trying to break the wall of separation of church and state for far too long and they now seem to be winning. Pastor Huckabee is currently leading the Republican field and intends to turn America into a theocracy if he somehow gets elected.

Will the apathetic voters actually show up at the upcoming elections or will the Evangelicals be able to decide our president because too many people don't vote? How can we win the War on the 1st Amendment? How can we put a step to the efforts by a minority of extremists to turn America into a Neo-Puritan theocracy? How can we stop the efforts to reenact the Crusades? How can we win a total victory against those who wish to send us back to the Dark Ages?

I am a strong believer in keeping church and state separate. You however, have overstated things so extremely in your above rant that it's hard to lend any legitimacy to your comments. OK fine, you hate Christians and Christianity. That we got, but seriously, the rest of your comments are so exaggerated you sound like a Left wing anti-God lunatic. If I follow your thinking, then the MAJORITY of the citizens in this country who acknowledge the existence of God (albeit not devoutly religious) should be frozen out, and the atheistic elitists should have the freedom to in turn force THEIR beliefs (exactly what you are complaining about from the Christians) on the rest of us. Right? Thats what just slays me about the liberal mind. They automatically assume, for whatever reason, that their view of the world is exclusively the correct, intellectually superior stance, and everyone who disagrees is a backwards idiot. Such snobbery is even more amazing to me than the attitude of SOME fundamentalists who think they have a corner on the truth.
Besides, your assertions are incorrect as well as over exaggerated.

There is no threat to the country. The US is nowhere near becoming a theocracy. The assault on the first amendment is being addressed by people like Bill O'Rielly who are fighting the forces who want to stop people from the free practice of their religion. In cases across the nation the forces of good have triumphed against the likes of the freedom from religion foundation and the ACLU. The latest victory was getting the Wisconsin state government to rename the Christmas tree the Christmas tree after 22 years of wrongly calling it the holiday tree. I think you can relax, the first amendment is safe, now join all clear thinking Americans and work to preserve our second amendment. Let's work to restore our constitution one amendment at a time

in order to avoid a theocracy we have to fight against poverty, not only for the fact that they are mainly the ones who don't vote but because there is a very strong correlations between poverty and fanaticism! the higher the rate of poverty, the higher the rate of fanaticism. they will invite them to their church or mosque and help them here and there and soon god starts talking to them to give their lives for the cause! In USA most likely many will be mobilized by the churches to vote and the rest don't vote anyway! slowly but surely they manage to take over the leadership! you don't even see them coming! one has to fight poverty, advocate for heath care and education. this is the only remedy for this type of cancer! peace

Church and state must be separate entities considering that people have different religions. Freedom of religion will be encroached when government will favor a certain religious sect.
