And don't say its because "its the home to R&R"....Detroit was offered the site before Cleveland (for $5MM) and turned it down as with other cities who balked at the price - You would think that th ewhole point is to have inductinos AT THE R&R HALL OF FAME?

I agree. I'm from Cleveland, and it's a hot topic every time theres and induction. The city is losing out on money, and it is just completely stupid to have it any other place than here.

I agree, I think that they should have the ceremonies here in Cleveland right on the Lake! The Rock Hall isn't even all that so the real draw would be the induction ceremonies.

I don't know New York is a craphole they should have it in Cleveland at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame, they could even have events near by at Jacobs field and at Quicken Loans arena .

This was a controversy before the hall was constructed and it seems as if the civic "leaders" are simply content with this situation. It is like having the baseball hall ceremony in Los Angeles and football hall ceremony in Miami.

That would be nice, but I recall that they did have the ceremonies here -- once, in 1997 (Akron Beacon Journal, Jan. 13, 1998, article by Kevin C. Johnson ,or this May 1997 article: http://infoweb.newsbank.com.oh0209.oplin.org/iw-search/we/InfoWeb?p_action=doc&p_docid=0EB6C01ADB7D9724&p_docnum=42&p_queryname=9&p_product=NewsBank&p_theme=aggregated4&p_nbid=H60I5EERMTE5NzY3OTUxNi4xODI2NzE6MToxMzo2Ni4yMTMuNDEuMjA5) or this article from the Plain Dealer: http://infoweb.newsbank.com.oh0209.oplin.org/iw-search/we/InfoWeb?p_action=doc&p_docid=0F8083EF426F5575&p_docnum=12&p_queryname=11&p_product=NewsBank&p_theme=aggregated4&p_nbid=H60I5EERMTE5NzY3OTUxNi4xODI2NzE6MToxMzo2Ni4yMTMuNDEuMjA5

So it *was* here for one year. I seem to remember that the powers that be turned up their moneyed noses at Cleveland, and the ceremony was moved back to New York.

Hey - I have no idea why we turned it down here in Detroit, other than Kwame must have been shuffling the money between the bank accounts of his relatives at the time....
