They are indoor plants, so they don't really know what season it is. I have had 4 for 2 months and one for 3 weeks. They seem to love Miracle-Gro, but I've been told that "Miracle-Gro" is like "cocaine" and could "addict" my plants.

A feed every 2-4 weeks when they are actively growing is more than enough. Do not assume that if a recommended amount is good, twice that amount is better. You may damage or kill your plants.

A newly purchased plant should not need fertilizer for the first three months in your home. Most plants benefit from regular feeding during active growing periods such as spring, summer and early Autumn. Feeding should be decreased during winter months when growth has decreased. Do not fertilize resting or dormant plants. Flowering plants require extra fertilizer, applied in small amounts, when buds are forming and before blooming. Slow growing plants such as cacti and bromeliads thrive with very little plant food.

Over fertilization can cause a slowdown of plant growth, stunted plants and burned or dried leaf margins or tips. If your plant wilts or suddenly collapses and the soil is moist, over fertilization of the plant may be the cause. If you discover that you have over fertilized, you can reduce injury to your plants by leaching out part of the dissolved fertilizer by 'rinsing' the soil with clear water. To do this, you must have a well-drained soil in a container with a hole in the bottom. Place the pot in a sink and water liberally three to four times at half hour intervals, allowing the water to flush out the dissolved fertilizer and other accumulated salts.

Good luck with your Salvias :-)

If you are making it full strength, then yes it is too often... Feed only once per week.
If you make a mild solution... Like 1/20 strength than you can feed every day. If it is an indoor plant, you should not need to water it that often though. You'll end up rotting the roots out. as far as the plant not knowing what season it is.... They DO KNOW!... by the hours of daylight. You generally do not feed in winter. It will end up exhausting the plant and weakening it.

There was a time, for a few months, when I would have a beer or 2 everyday after work, and a longer period of which I got drunk during most weekends (sometimes more often, sometimes less often than that) for a few years, but I've calmed down since then. Now, I catch a buzz about once every 2 weeks. In between that, I will have a drink or 2 with some of my meals, sometimes.

I don't knwo if i would say the mirtacle grow is like cocaine but it is like junk food in a way. However no matter what kind of food it is no plant needs to be fed every day!!!. Follow the instructions on the container and at the most feed every 2 weeks!!!

Always read the container. It tells us how often to use fertilizers. Miracle-Gro is usually 7 to 14 days.

When you use Miracle Gro chemicals to feed your plants it kills off the microbial life of the soil. Soil health is important to plant health. Your plants are dependent on chemical nutrients in Miracle Gro since they are no longer naturally available in the soil.

Everyday watering is not good for any plant indoors, results in root rot and plant death.

MiracleGro has proportions on the package for the "mild solution" for use at each watering. Small end of scoop, 1 gallon of water.

Addicted plants? Whoever told you that must be on crack.
