and my mom is terrified of it so she put it outside. their about the size as a grain of sand. i notice another plant had some to. it also had some white stuff in which i thought was cobwebs but i used a magnifying glass and saw that the "web" was moving as if it were breathing. it creeped me the hell out so i poured dish soap in the plant to kill whatever the hell it was. i think they were some kind of worms probably the larva form of those little bugs i saw. i feel itchy.....

You can make your own or they sell it in most garden centers.
That should get rid of the little buggers what ever they are.

you feel itchy because this is what bugs do to us most likely your moms plant has a infestation of spider mites who will create a web you need to take the plant out side and wash it down with soapy water to avoid further infestation the larva is the egg waiting to form new babies on the plant separate this plant from others

That's spider mites, hon. Webs are built on leaf stems. Leaves will display tiny discolored spots. Spectracide 3 in 1 spray *(lowes, homey d, wally)* will kill them. If left untreated spidermites will kill the plant and spread to any other plants in the house.

I think those are called "mealy bugs" they're a common pest especially for cacti and succulents.

A lot of people recommend dabbing them with a q-tip soaked with alcohol - it helps but not enough to kill them all. You could take the plant outside and hose off all the soil from the roots and blast the leaves making sure to get the "crotches" of the leaves or you could buy a bug spray from the garden centre which should see them off too.

Good luck - they are harmless (providing you are not a plant) :-)

the untechnical term is spit bug or spittle bug... is this it?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spittlebugs
I'm not talking about the red bug in the pix, scroll down to the spitty looking stuff... sometimes it will look like a cotton ball too. dish soap IS supposed to be what works best... there are so many varieties of them though.. currently I have some little brown ones that look almost like scales... the dish soap worked "some what" but, I have resorted to tweezers and picking them one by one off of my drawf citrus.

you do have to get them off of your plant. its hard for me right now to keep drenching my little house tree with soapy water because I just hate disturbing my lemon blossoms.

good luck.
