In the 30's & 40's he was a popular heartthrob crooner and movie star, famous for his bright blue eyes, pipe, jive-talkin' slang and wisecracks. In the 70's he was in a popular folk-rock band with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. Then in the 80's and early 90's he had a very successful family sitcom and became famous for his hypnotic sweaters. Today he's probably most well known for his Christmas recordings.

I really think you're confusing your Crosby's. Bing Crosby died back in the late 70's and therefore cannot be singing in a popular folk-rock band with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash in the 80's and early 90's. I do think you mean the Crosby that sang with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in the mid 70's. and i'm not sure he was even an actor - correct me if I'm wrong.
Most Christmas recordings (particularly one's about a "white Christmas") refer to the old Bing Crosby.
