I feel perfectly free not to answer the door. I don't turn off the tv or turn down the music. If someone is unusually persistant (including neighbors), I'll go to the door and say, I'm busy. I can't visit right now. Bye. Have a nice day. I immediately shut the door. So far, everyone I've wanted to avoid has gotten the message.

I have a sign on my door that says NO SOLICITING. If they knock anyway, I just don't answer the door. If they persist, I open the door really fast and yell "Can't you READ?" and slam the door shut.

At least give the hubby a warning so he doesn't get irritated by answering the door to someone YOU don't want to talk to! It's only fair.

i have done that or if i'm the only one home i just don't answer the door. i did that when my aunt showed up un-announced & i didn't feel like dealing with her. i figure it's ok, even if they know i'm home for all they know i'm on the can or in the shower. i never get religious freaks at my door so i don't know if i'd tell them to piss off or just ignore them.

I run off too. But its usually his friends. And I have no use for them, they don't bring me anything useful.

And I alwways answer the door to the candy sellers, but i don't buy them. espicially at 8 bucks for a dollars worth of peanut brittle for the mentally handicapped. Sorry, but I'd be considerin myself handicapped if I bought it.
