1) Physical ability
2) Women are generally the caretakers for children and therefore take more time off from work for children's sicknesses, etc.
3) Women take time off from work for pregnancy, delivery, and recovery.
4) Women get sick more often than men, and take time off from work for sickness more often than men.
5) Misplaced perceptions and biases regarding women's abilities.
6) DNA - women do some things better than men, men do some things better than women. Generally speaking, the stuff that men do better earns better pay.
7) DNA - women are generally not programmed to compete for higher salaries and better positions and more recognition.

People in this forum argue all the time over the differences in the genders...some say the differences are vast, others say we have more in common than we do differences. Personally, I agree with the latter...we may have biological differences, and differences in the way we are raised (social and cultural factors), but when it comes right down to it, we have basically the same needs, the same desires, the same kinds of issues, and we all wish to be appreciated for who we are. Sometimes I think we do need to acknowledge that each of us are unique individuals...we're not all exactly the same...and yet our differences are also something we all have in common! We're all one species, though some may not want to believe it... When it comes to disagreements between the genders, I often find that most of what we argue about is petty...(at least in this forum). The bigger issues, most seem to agree on. I think a lot of the arguing has to do with not so much biology, but factors having to do with how we were raised, and society's expectations. I think people really just want to be able to choose their own paths. Most do, anyway. And where there is conflict, it usually stems from those who resist change- and who want others to resist it, as well. Some want clearly defined roles for each gender, and they want adherence to those roles. (As it used to be.) It seems they feel safer in an environment where everything and everyone is predictable all the time. But life is not static...it's dynamic. Change is inevitable. And the strength of the human spirit (which we all have, to some degree) dictates that we forge our own path in life...wherever that may take us, regardless of our gender.

Its all got to do with perception from ages...it all started with men bieng more aggresive then women..in the ancient times..fighting wars...winning bread for the family etc. None of that stands true of date..but its a fact that men consider themselves superior since maybe they have larger egos..are more brutal..less caring etc. Its just in thier DNA..but tell you what even women consider themselves inferior...why do people say be a MAN..or MAN and wife, why dont ppl instead say..be a Woman..or Woman and Husband....over the years women have been accepting a lower status..that too counts.if u really wish to do a project I suggest you conatct some prominent woman welfare orgs in ur city for insights. Best of Luck

Feminism has given women privileges without responsibilities.

Women don't actually get sick more often than men. They are more likely to take days off from work to care for sick children and less likely to work when they are actually sick. Men tend to be more likely to work even when they are sick instead of taking a day off.
