I've been wondering how much "they" really know about us. Can they access all the record about us with a click of a button? If they really can find out a lot about us, why different govt. departments make us fill up the forms for getting things done such as immigration, etc? Why not just check their databases...

There is a difference between having imformation on or about people and being able to find it.
On some of us they have a lot of imformation. Me included because I gave it all to them. (job) However even on the job it seems they can never find whatever they need, and keep asking for it again and again.
On others they have only the basic info.

The Patriot Act definitely makes it easy for them. There could be many reasons why they want us to fill out the papers. Perhaps it gives them a better idea of people, and the ones that may not be caught up in electronic databases. It just gives them a stronger, more reliable set.

Well, they don't know you except the financial stuff.. but when they "want to know you" you are screwed... they can find out everything....
so be a good kids is the best

They really know everything. Paperwork is to make us feel safe, like there might be info about us they dont know.

I think they don't care to learn...
Of course if there was a specific reason they could find everything for us ...
the question is do they learn everything for you if they know your sex, city residence, age....? For me no ...
