I have been reading different discussions groups about the Moody Blues and how they have touched peoples lives in different ways. One thing I have noticed about people who listen to the Moody Blues is that they tend to be more respectful and caring towards other people. I would like to know what everyone's favorite song and how it touched their lives.

NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN

I love this song.
It is spritual, romantic, nostalgic.... the orchestral part is almost classical.... it is heartfelt and dense...
One of the rock songs that will remain classic forever

1. Nights in white satin......I heard it for the first time watching the last episode of a TV series called "Wiseguy". The episode and it's theme really fit the mood of the song and it's stayed with me all these years. Since then, the song has become one of my sad songs, one that I listen to when nothing is going right. It helps me get out my grief in a way that I can handle, then allows me to turn it around so I can reclaim my will to fight for something better.

I don't know about the more caring thing. I think you have to have a heart to appreciate the song a great deal and compassionate people usually are more respectful and caring. My opinion.

2. I like "Wildest Dreams" as my second. Reminds me of being young and in charge and the ecstatic feeling I had that summer when I was chosen to help set up and break down band equipment when a travelling band came to our school. It was nice having my friends envy me for a change, so it lifted my self esteem a bit....which was good because that was something that almost never happened then.

All in all, I think Moody Blues music helps me find a part of my soul that I need for that moment in my life. To pin it down to one or two things is impossible, but the above is the best I can do when half asleep.

The Moody Blues came from Birmingham in the UK the line up the of this group was DannyLaine= Ray Thomas =Mike Pinder= JustiN Hayward= AND Graeme Edge in 1964 the first single they had went to number 1 in the u.k charts this song was GO NOW= I WOULD HAVE TO TO PICK TWO SONGS THIS group made in 1967 a song CALLED =NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN, and the other one in 1970 called QUESTION , IF YOU LISTION TO THE WORDS OF this song you will understand that the title of the song is doing what it say it is doing asking you a question and this is what makes you think of how to answer it

There are two that I have loved since I first heard them years ago :~

Go Now
Nights In White Satin

I love the piano work on the first {I *love* good piano playing}, and the shear emotion of the second ~ often makes me cry.

I first became really aware of '...White Satin' when it was used on an episode of one of my favourite TV series in 1993 {Heartbeart, series 3}. It was used over a scene where a farmer's cattle had all been culled as they had foot and mouth, and he was having to watch them being burned. He then walked into the woods and shot himself.
I think it was the use of this song that makes me recollect the scene so clearly all these years later.

The Story in Your Eyes. I can't tell you why it's my favorite, but it just hits me in some good way. I guess it's got a lot of hope in it:

"...Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day...

Maybe that's the key to their popularity with caring people - there's a lot of underlying hope in both their words and their music.

"Tuesday Afternoon" is my favorite. It's kind of personal. I had an LSD experience with the "Days Of Future Passed" CD and my g-friend at the time. It happened to be a Tuesday on the summer of 1991. It was a happy time.

Knights In White Satin. It doesnt really touch me but as a musician I appreciate the combination of melody, semi-classical refrain and its narrative. It was very innovative for its time.
