Hey Adtz

As a rule of thumb, superbikes are a Silhouette class ( based on current street production bikes ) and in theory you could watch the race on Sunday, and buy the winning one on Monday (the dealers hope!) But in reality, they are all so highly modified and upgraded, that the "silhouette" is all you will be buying. ( Which means a superbike looks like a road bike - but it isn't)

A motogp bike is not based on anything - it uses prototype design for all it's systems usually, and is at the cutting edge of innovation & technology, and most of the styling quirks (and the best of the racing technology) will filter down to road bikes pretty quickly.

There are loads of rules and regs. from the organisers - but I'm blonde so can't recall any specifics.

Hope this helped.

I have your answer and its a direct quote from the movie "The Doctor, The Tornado, and The Kentucky Kid". Superbikes are mass produced bikes which anyone can buy from your local dealer and modify. MotoGP bikes and only single figured quatities and secretly guarded. MotoGp bikes go through lots of research and development whick cost billions of dollars and I mean billions. Everything on the bike is top of the line technology from the ground up. On a MotoGP bike, you can change the chasis, the gearing, the suspension, the electroncis, download data through sensors on the bikes monitoring pitch and lean. The tires on the bike are nothing compared to the tires on superbikes and everything used on the bike is not production wise. Even tho the engin maybe 990 cc or 800cc, as of 2007, the bikes is still fast and rides nothing like a regular bike. So it takes the best of the best to be in MotoGP.
