It is very difficult to actively forget something. About all that I can suggest is to consistently think of something else more involving whenever you find yourself thinking of this thing that you wish to forget.

And seriously, you could consider contacting a hypnotherapist about this concern. Hypnotism can be very powerful.

So, you opened mouth and inserted foot. So what? From what you said about the person who originally said it, she wasn't that bothered by it. Now you know that you sometimes say things before thinking, so you can improve your performance by thinking about what you're told and deciding if it should be repeated. A secret shared is a tale bared for all the world to see. More truth in that than we first thought,eh?

look, you can't really forget it.

you have apologized to the proper person.
the only other think you can do is to examine the event.

Are there things you can learn from it?
Like - did you say this thing to impress the boss?
to get attention?

Is there ANY way you could have known that you should not have discussed this?

if not, you are just wasting your brain energy worrying about this.

Pick something useful to think about.

Don't forget. Don't feel guilty. It's bad what happened but you are letting your conscience eat you up and you didn't do anything wrong. You didn't know. Just relax!

If she did not tell you that it was private or secret, then you did nothing wrong and have nothing to feel guilty about. Let it go.
