Okk well im 16 about to be 17 and about 5 months or so ago, i started getting the birth control shot (depo provera). I started my current period about 2 and a half months ago, and i am still on the same one!!
Let me add that the doctor who gives me the shot told me that with the shot it can lighten your period, but some people react weird like having longer periods...but i think this is a little too long to be on it. I am losing lots of blood.

Please don't get another shot!

Check out its reviews on http://www.rateitall.com (search for depo provera) and google "depo provera lawsuit" as there are class action lawsuits against the makers of this drug.

You could either not bleed at all, or bleed for months as you are finding out.

There are way too many women having serious side affects and health issues for me to ever ever recommend the depo shot

You need to go back to the doc, and not get the depo next time. It does happen - like your dr. said - some women had odd reactions. Once it gets out of your system, it will probably stop. Then you can use something different - that hopefully will have a better reaction.

Also, since you are losing blood, you need to make sure you are taking iron and multivitamins to keep up your minerals and iron levels so you don't get anemic or sick.

It should have stopped unless you're supposed to have a long period in between shots. If anything, just tell your doctor and see what he/she says :-). I'm sure you're fine though.
