constructed our government the way they did?

What were they trying to accomplish that in the last few decades is becoming dangerously close to disappearing right under our noses?

Pres.George Washington warned the people of the US not to give up their states rights to the central government.
I'll refrain from saying more on the subject.

Many Americans don't understand US history very well or the system of checks and balances built into the way our government was constructed. The government set up by our forefathers was designed to stay a democracy with three co-equal branches sharing the power of government, each having different powers and functions. The president has been usurping this scheme, if not for decades, then certainly for the last 7 years. He has grabbed far more power than the founders wanted him to have via "signing statements," executive orders, the state secret doctrine and executive privilege, just to name of few of his devices. The founders did not want one man running the government, and yes, the basic constitutional safeguards they set up are disappearing under our noses.

The more people think this isn't a country created on Christian values the more I realize how ignorant our future generations are becoming. So, I honestly think people have no clue what the hell our forefathers wanted or envisioned for this country. True, we are not to be a theocracy...BUT, we were absolutely created with Christian value and morales in mind...don't believe me? Read the Declaration...
" We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator..."
Creator emplies nothing other than God..especially as they mention God in other documents...and its capitalized, designated a Proper Noun...
No atheists in this bunch! Which i guess can be argued that not all democrats are atheists.

It's the big government neoconservative (RINO/moderate) republicans and nearly all of the liberal democrats that are doing their damnedest to destroy what our founding fathers intended. Both RINO's and liberals are about expanding and strengthening the central government. Not to mention, they're both globalists. Selling out our sovereignty.

We need to get back to a common sense conservative government that is smaller, less intrusive and more efficient. That is the ONLY solution to our problems.

I am not a big fan of neoconservatives (another name for them is Rockefellar Republicans) like both Bush presidents. I am no fan at all of liberal/socialist/secular progressive democrats either. Trying to turn this country into a Western European entitlement society. The guy below me is right. The NAU is coming.

they wanted to make very sure that no one branch of government had too much power. It appears they could see into the future and envision one George W. Bush....

most Americans couldn't find Iraq on a world map, let alone name their congressional rep. Maybe elasticity was a bad thing. If the people don't have direct legislative power, there's no telling what can happen.

US will remain as a superpower if respected but will lose its status when negligent and erroneous Presidents will be on top of the affairs.
