hard disk data recovery help!!!?

Question

my hard drive had been corrupted, it doesn't want to boot and every time i try to repair the windows w/ the windows cd, i get setupdd.sys could not be loaded, so i hooked it up on my other computer and slaved it and its still not recognized and my computer even hangs-up... is there anyway i can recover my files without going to an expensive specialist? these files are really important wish someone could give me step-by-step instructions on how to. thanks in advance!

But want's happening on your hardrive based on your description is hardware problem, part of your physical (hardrive)hardware's damaged., that has nothing to do with re-install nor wipe, because open loop may occur in the hardrive it self.

if the dead drive isn't even being recognised by the second machine .... sounds terminal ... unless you use professional help where they litterally remove each platter and spin it up to retrieve data .... try it in another machine if possible may just be a compatibility issue with the comp you tried slaving it to
