why would you bother ... for an extra $100 you can get something here with more grunt ... more ram and double the processor speed ... don't be conned by marketing ... unless a 7" screen and a 900MHz processor for a shade under $500 seems to you like a good buy

You might have a hard time finding it in Singapore. As of today (Dec. 16), ASUS still doesn't have them in the country. The first batch they sent over (for a computer trade show two weeks ago) sold out in only a few hours. And the price wasn't any better than at BestBuy or NewEgg....

Good luck! And have a great trip to Asia!

I have an American model and the power adapter that it comes with is universal (works with either 110 or 220V) so power should not be a problem.

Don't let those other guys throw you off, the EEE isn't a bad machine. You should be aware of the machines drawbacks though. Small screen, small drive, no CD or DVD drive can be a big drawback for sure.

You will not want this machine as your primary machine as it is pretty limited. However, it can complement your regular desktop quite nicely,

Apparently there are some differences, but I believe these can be overcome as was discussed in usenet:aus.electronics.

Worst case is that you might have to buy a 240V rather than 110V powersupply.

You are aware that they only have 4Gb storage, including space for OS, so people have ended up with less that 1Gb of space and are now seeking to buy the 8Gb version.

Personally, I think you will find a lot of cheep ones after christmas as people realise what a pile of crap they really are. YMMV.
