If families share similar properties, how is it possible that metals, nonmetals, and metalloids are in the same family? thanks : )

All the time and twice on tuesday. Check the group with carbon (silicon, gernamium, tin, lead)
or boron (aluminum, titanium, etc.), or start with phosphorous (arsenic, antimony, etc.)
