I'm Black and my nephew's name is Ezekiel. We call him Zeek. He's a sweet kid, with a very strong personality, and a winning spirit. His name means God will strengthen, which was a blessing because my nephew was born almost 3 months premature. When the doctors kept giving him only 24 hours to live, he's still here.

I think the name is a mouth full for any kid to say, but it has character. Plus he's the only Ezekiel I know, so I think that's cool.

It's a name from the bible. I don't think people would make fun of Ezekiel anymore than Mary. It's a classic name. I know 2 people with this name and they are adorable fun loving guys, not to mention pretty attractive as well.

First of all Ezekiel is a Hebrew name (not Latin).

Second, I like it. I've thought about naming my future son Ezekiel. I like names that are different. And if he's half the hunk my husband is (which I'm sure he will be!), NO ONE is going to call him a geek or a freak.

an Old Testament prophet in the Bible, though I can't remember having met an Ezekiel in my lifetime, but there are folks named Isaiah and Jeremiah and Elijah who were all also Old Testament prophets

I know two Ezekiels but they both go by Zeke. Of course, there is always the possibility of "Zeke the Geek" "Zeek the Freak", etc.

I know someone with this name. He is just one or two years though, and Canadian. I think it's cute, on him, but I don't know if I like it all that much. They call him Zeke for short and I think that's cute (especially when his little cousins say it haha). It's better than his brother's name, Gideon.

I knew one in college. He was kind of a religious nut and a recluse. Of course, this isn't true of everyone with the name!

I think it's unattractive. Same with Malachi. Yuck. Sorry.
