Both were working toward a solution to the slavery question through violent means.

Nat Turner's rebellion changed the relationship slaveholders had with their slaves in that it made it illegal to teach a slave to read. The penalties were largely money fines, though one state in the Deep South gave the white man a year in jail for it.

John Brown, though Kansas may have been viewed as just a regional issue, the raid on Harper's Ferry Virginia took the issue into the mainstream, so to speak. Virginia was the first colony, Harper's Ferry is situated where Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia come together, in addition to being just up the Potomac from Washington. He also attacked a Federal installation, and incidentally killed a great grandnephew of George Washington. The only real connection the latter has was that Major Robert E. Lee of the U.S. Second Cavalry, was married to a grandniece of Martha Washington. It's only a coincidence that Lee was the commander of the unit that captured Brown.

Anyway, the impact of the Harper's Ferry raid was probably greater, as it accelerated the training of southern militia, which eventually became the Confederate Army 2 years later.

They were both radical extremists and had they rode Harleys, chicks would have flocked to them and there'd be bikes called the Nat Turner Glide of the John Brown Edition.

Christopher Columbus replaced right into a jew....who says anybody yet Italians provide a sh*t approximately him besides? Nat Turner and Toussaint L'ouverture are characters i savour. comparable as Geronimo, loopy Horse, and Robert E. Lee. i savour the underdog who stands against extra beneficial forces and makes them sense threatened. anybody who takes a stand against maximum folk and the enterprise is a source of suggestion to me. So now that the enterprise is popping uber-liberal and the president is black do no longer assume that love of the underdog to shrink. The enemy of my enemy is my chum. John Brown replaced right into a non secular zealot and a nutjob.
