Just because we have poverty doesn't mean we're not rich. However it is a little sad to see that in such a advanced and modern nation that there are starved children shivering under the bridge each night and sustaining on the "generosity" and pity of the more fortunate. Yes, America, you may have seen them lying under the bridge on your way to work but never have you ever given a penny's worth of thought on them. This is the sad truth, that Poverty is incurable so long as we the more fortunate Americans, the ones that get at least 2 to 3 meals a day, the ones who sit at home and watch TV all day, that we, the Role Model of EVERY Country in the world and who everyone looks up to, that as long as WE do not do anything, then the fate of those starving children under the bridge or that pregnant women sleeping in the heap of trash behind McDonald, will be forever sealed.

Replace poority with poverty.
I hope you mean India
You have asked a question , which can , perhaps , never be solved, as long as we have non-national, non-patriotic leaders.
It may take decades for our country to become rich.
Developments are all towards information and technology.
Foreign money is flowing in. Cost of living has gone up.
but standard of living remains the same.
Let us hope that India is developing.
Read Business Today , issue dated 16th Dec.,2007.

The principle is to "teach them how to fish",i.e. help them to be independence.
The best way, we can think of, is social enterprise. That means, based on geographical location, help those people to set up some business organization and help them to buy&sell. Eventually they can live by themselves or go out to work in cities with their experience.
