I'm a Democrat and a liberal who pays close attention to both major primary races. I'd vote for Edwards before I'd vote for anyone on the other side, but I sure hope it doesn't come down to that. I have to agree with the first respondent's characterization of him.

Support the candidate based on what he has done in the past and what you think he will do in the future. Don't get so hung up on looks. Except for Kucinish (sp?) he really is slimy and goofy. Even having a wife with a tongue piercing doesn't make him happening. Ditto Thompson whose wife is the age of his granddaughter.

Honestly, I don't know how you get "slimy" from watching and listening to him (unless you don't actually watch him and let others determine your values)...He's a decent man....find 1 thing in him that's bad and I will find 2 in any other candidate...This question is an example of name calling with no basis. I watch them all and if any one has honesty, it's Edwards

It's the messenger rather then the message that is bad here. Much of what he says is good stuff....but it's coming from John Edwards mouth...and thats bad LOL.

Slimy.

He wishes to dissolve the marriage of big business and the government.

Previously, he made a fine career of defeating corporate lawyers.

I don't feel that any of those three adjectives apply to him.

Capable and intelligent, maybe.

He complains about there being two Americas ( rich and poor ), He lives in a 28,000 square foot house.
That doesn't bother me it's just that he tries to portray himself as though he isn't rich and I always hate when people do that.

I like him but I don't think he's doing very well in the polls compared to two other dems.

I think some folks lost confidence in him for 2 reasons:

He didn't win with Kerry.

And he let Ann Coulter drag him into her mud-slinging pit...

Snakes actually aren't slimy. Edwards, however, definitely.

Slimy.

He is for the "common man" but sues companies with flimsy evidence and bankrupts companies that have to lay off their workers.

Typical liberals, enrich themselves by cheating the common man (although they usually do it by high taxes).

All of the above, a true politician. Don't get the appeal.
