They just gave up 31 points. Why is this unit that was so effective the past three years getting carved up every other week? Why haven't they been able to stop the run? Is it the players or the system?

Anyone who just says "they suck" will be instantly disqualified for the best answer. I'm a Bronco fan, and even I can admit that the defense is playing terribly this year. I want to hear some intelligent discussion on this.

Hey, a little known fact: Sam Adams was cut from the team. I don't disagree with that move. Did anyone else see the big man being driven BACKWARDS against the Chicago Bears in the fourth quarter at the goal line while trying to preserve the lead? We need an anchor in the middle linebacker spot and a quick but tough run clogger up front plus another elite pass rusher to complement Dumervil's Pro-Bowl worthy season.

Several things...

Aging safeties. Lynch and Ferguson are getting old.

Injuries. They've missed a lot of man games from key players including Bailey and Bly. They loss Moss for the year early on, and he was expected to bring pressure.

DJ Williams is not a fit in Al Wilson's slot.

Pieces that don't fit. Sam Adams appears to have eaten another D-lineman -- I swear he's 500 pounds.

They miss Darrent Williams in nickel packages and in man coverage.

The offense isn't generating long, time-consuming drives consistently. Blame the running game, and injuries to Tom Nalen and the O-line. That lettuce-burning baby-maker Travis Henry has been anything but durable.

The scheme. What worked in Miami isn't working for Denver.

They'll get better. We have to be patient.

They are lacking some interior guys. They have the corners on lockdown and Lynch id still a pretty decent safety but I could not name a single lineman or linebacker from them. I will admit I am not a single bit a Denver fan but still if they had some good backers or linemen on the defensive side of the ball then I am sure I would have heard of them by now.

Shanahan is getting a little older now too and typically those types of coaches do not have updated systems. Just look at Joe Gibbs, his systems are too old and he cannot compete with all the newer adaptations to offensive and defensive schemes.

My brother is on the team and he says they don't think they stand a reasonable chance of making the super bowl and just want to wrap it up and go home. Expect a lot of retirements and changes to this team.

No joy in the house that John Elway built. The thrill is gone in Denver. Just a lot of dissatisfaction and they cannot get fired up. Turn out the lights, the party is over.

OMG i know. Im sooooooooooooo depressed. Why are the losing. Their offense isn't getting it done and neither is their defence. I think it is because Shanahan makes so many changes as a coach. Nothing bad on him, I love the guy and actually have his autograph but I just don't know. Mabye next year. I love Jay Cutler, Tony Sheffler, and especially Selvin Young.

the undertaking is their megastar gamers all have severe flaws, and for this reason are not exceedingly much as good as people think of. enable's only say their basketball means would not stay as much as their marketability. Iverson & Carmelo the two are gamers that desire the ball plenty, and are ok, yet no longer super at coming up photos for teammates (like Lebron or Chris Paul). it is wonderful for letting those 2 get all the photos they desire, even with the incontrovertible fact that this is totally predictable, and different communities are extra helpful arranged for them. This finally ends up in them surely suffering on offense! even with media pundits ideas washing people into questioning they play good offense & undesirable protection, this is surely particularly the different. you'll be effective to contemplate the %. they play at. The Nuggets have between the utmost, if the no longer maximum # of possessions consistent with game, and it finally ends up in the two them and their combatants scoring one hundred+pts consistent with game. in the event that they lose JR Smith this low season, watch their offense sputter much extra next season. i think of there's a sturdy possibility they'd pass over the playoffs next 365 days, exceptionally with Portland picking up Bayless, Rudy & Oden which in reality equates 3 useful lottery alternatives. IMO, the Nuggets could rebuild, and that i could do some thing like attempt to get carry of Beasley (who i think of would be extra helpful than Melo) & Marion for Carmelo. and attempt to commerce Iverson for yet another youthful participant or draft alternatives. of direction this could in no way take place. A extra real looking ideas-set could be to fire George Karl, who's a exceedingly mediocre coach. He continually has been. they could attempt to hire Jeff Van Gundy, an precise 5 coach, and the probable the excellent of all people who would be obtainable. additionally, in the event that they someway picked up a huge PG (like Andre Miller satirically) and coupled him with Iverson interior the backcourt, then i think of they'd pass as much as the best below the elite interior the NBA.

Personally I think it's the LBs. They are small and built for speed but teams tend to run straight at them and they seem to have a tough time coming off blocks.

I think Shanahan has had trouble finding a competent defensive coordinator. He needs to replace his entire defensive staff: defensive coordinator, d-line coaches, linebacker coaches, etc.
