The Mayan Calendar ends in 2012 on that day. The Mayan calendar worked on the assumption that time was cyclical and that when the world ended, typically through some great catastrophe, the world would restart anew. So while the Mayan calendar predicts that some great catastrophe would befall the Earth on that day, it is not technically the end of the world but a new beginning.

Has anyone heard the myth of the world ending on: December 21, 2012?

Answer: It is not a myth but it is not true either.

There seems to exist a culture (for lack of a better term) that is forever predicting the end of the world. Every generation has believed that it is in the "Last Days." They look for answer in the Book of Revelation and elsewhere in the Bible but the answer is NOT there. There are no hidden codes in the Bible (that's Da Vinci Code fiction). What the Bible does tell us is very plain: No One Knows...

Other doomsayers look to the writings of Michel de Notre Dame who boldly predicted: "...in 1999 the Great King of Terror will come from the sky..." After the GK was a no-show in '99 I can't understand why anyone would even listen to the incoherent ramblings of Nostradamus???

Others look to the Mayan Long Count Calendar which abruptly ends with the date: 12-21-2012. The Mayans were concerned with their own civilization, not what was going to happen to an unknown people in 2012. They FAILED TO PREDICT THEIR OWN END BY ASSIMILATION WAY BEFORE 2012. December 21, 2012 is merely as far as the Mayans got in their calendar making before time ran out for them. It is NOT a doomsday prediction, 12-21-2012 is the cut-off date in their calendar making. That is how far they got before they were over-run by enemies, plague or other natural disaster. Remember, they were chipping away at stone (very time consuming), not computer generating their calendar.

Don't let the doomsayers take away your peace of mine. They have yet to be right, remember Y2K?

Best.

nicely, i do no longer think in it. i think that December 21, 2012 is the date our image voltaic equipment will bypass in the process the galactic equator, no longer the day the worldwide will end . it extremely is the beginning up of a sparkling age of varieties, no longer an end. The Mayan calendar replaced into extremely precise at celestial calculations. even though it ability extremely no longer something besides that for the subsequent 20,000 years we are going to be in the different a million/2 of the galaxy. no longer the top of the worldwide. Scientists had reported a similar precise ingredient approximately June 6, 2006. (666). needless to say, no longer something had handed off on 6/6/06.

Yeah I have. Supposedly there are codes in the Bible that have predicted things like Hitler and all of the major world events. In this code the world is slated to end in 2012. Also as someone else mentioned, the Mayan calendar ends in 2012. Of course, it won't happen. Nothing that interesting ever happens for real.

Just a suggestion, try searching on this question before asking. It has been ask perhaps 3 to 4 times a week for the last several months.

No there is no reason to think that the world might end in 2012, just because a very primitive people who sacrificed humans by tearing out their hearts ended their calendar then. Think about it realistically...

I've read that the Mayan Calendar begun in 3114 BC and ends either 2011 or 2012 AD (opinions differ). I don't have any idea what will or won't happened, but I'm thrilled to be here to be part of it. I do know that the sun reaches it most active sunspot cycle at the time you mentioned, but this happens every 22 years.Maybe they are related?

Yeah, the Mayans believed that the world would end in 2012. It could happen if we have a nuclear war which would probably kill us all off, but I guess we won't really know until the 22/12/2012!

There are twelve great zodiac ages of 2000 years or more totalling a priod of about 26,000 years(the Great Year). The Great Year and the Great Months(Ages) are based on the Earth's axial wobble which produces a slow backward movement(one degree every 72 years) of the equinoxes along the ecliptic. We are now shifting from Pisces to Aquarius.

Every planet has its own ages based on its orbit, rotation, and wobble. Also, every planet has its own unique vernal equinox or Ages starting point based on its ruling sign. Mars, for example , begins its world ages with the zodiacal sign of Aries because this is its ruling sign and ends with Pisces. Earth, on the other hand, begins its ages with Libra and ends with Virgo. Earth's true vernal equinox is 0 Libra, not 0 Aries. There is no one single starting point in the zodiac.

Our natal planetary positions are condensed versions of the Ages. There are 144 such Ages in our solar system, and each of us personally reflect twelve of them in any given lifetime. Those incarnating on Earth reflect this planet's nature(and its Ages) via the Ascendant or Rising sign. Someone with Leo rising or ascendant, for example, will personify the qualites of that time period in Earth's history known as the Age of Leo. He or she will also add to or modify that Age's collective data bank according to how that part of themself is expressed in this lifetime. While natal planetary positions are more or less fixed, those of the Ascendant(and Midheaven) are being fully moulded NOW, as you live.

All planets are dual in nature; that is, they constitute a hollowed out shell and an inner central sun. Both the shell and the sun have their own separate electromagnetospheres and their own Ages and can therefore be considered separate planets(from a geocentric point off view). While the Ascendant derives its source of power from the gravity center within the planet's shell, the Midheaven derives its power from the inner central sun(see diagram below). The Midheaven is our heavenly nature as opposed to our earthly one. Just as lattitude and longitude define any point on Earth, so the Ascendant and Midheaven are the principal elements in a chart which define the individual.

The Global Ascendant is now in the last degree of Pisces/Virgo(1945-2012). The global Midheaven is now in late Sagittarius/Gemeni(see World Ages diagram above), and will continue to be there for the next 300 years or so.

That's when the Mayan calendar ends, so the Mayans thought that's when the world would end.

For the record, I don't believe this is true. But, I would like to clarify that it's not a myth yet. It hasn't been proven false since it hasn't occurred yet.
