I am currently pregnant and was seriously interested in using a cloth diaper service. I know they give you a special deoderized pail, but everytime my child has a bowel movement do I have to dump it out in the toilet, and then toss the soiled diaper in the pail?? If anyone has used this kind of service give me your advice on how you liked/disliked it, and if anyone has used this service while living in a gated apartment building, how did they come in to retrieve the soiled diapers if you were not home to buzz them in??

Yes, dump the solid waste into the toilet and then the diaper into a pail.

Some people keep a little water and vinegar in the pail to disinfect the diapers, or if the diaper service wants "dry diapers" (not ones that have been soaking in a disinfecting solution) you can simply spray the poo diapers with something like BacOut before tossing in the pail. It helps remove odor naturally and keeps stains from setting in.

I washed the diapers at home instead of using a service, so I can't answer about that part.

I used a dry pail system, meaning I dumped any solid waste in the toilet, and put the diapers in a lidded diaper pail lined with a plastic trash bag. About every 2 days, I'd toss the diapers in the washer and wash them, with a pre-wash cycle and 2 rinse cycles. If you're breastfeeding, the diapers don't get too stinky.

Here's some good info:

If you have your own machines then I would not recommend using a service.

Changing and washing cloth diapers is very easy.
Poop goes into the toilet and the diaper goes into a bag or pail; smell will not be a problem if you wash often.

I say go for it! Cloth diapers are awesome and will save you thousands of dollars.

My advice is dont. If your smart use pampers or huggies, or a store brand, especially if your intending upon going out some where, say like some elses home, out to dinner, movies, church, doctors office etc:
