smoke cigarettes, vote, move out on their own, hold down a full time job, go to college, in most states not have a restriction on their license anymore, enter into a legal contract and be held liable for anything they sign for (vehicle, business deal, etc), buy a vehicle on their own (some places may require a co-signer, tho), get a credit card and rack up their credit bills, and most of all find out what the real world is all about/like.

Once you're 18 you can't do anyone under 18.
You can smoke, drink IN MEXICO, vote, go to jail instead of juvy, marry without parental consent, go into the military, purchase porn and other adult items, rent a car, bid on various objects, donate blood... oooh so many choices!

Well...You're considered an "adult".
You can join the army (at 17 you could do that anyway).
You're no longer committed to Juvie, but you're taken to jail.
You can buy cigarettes (some states)...

Get credit, be given harsher legal punishment, legally view adult material and go to other adult places.
And yea, I forgot. You can have more dangerous (slightly higher paying) jobs.
