Because the Republicans have generally mastered the art of utilizing disinformation and imaginary as subterfuge to cloak their war on the middle class.

"The exodus of whites and white men from the party really only happened in the South--as Larry Bartels has shown. And white guys, at least outside the South have reasonable views on most things. They're concerned about the same stuff as everybody else ... healthcare, job security, education, global warming."

I don't know. I read the article but it doesn't jive with the white working class guy where I live. But I do Iive in an area dominated by union workers. They are Democrats through and through, with few exceptions.

republicans tend to be more conservative. a lot of people, especially protestants and evangelists (a large percent of the country) in the working class like conservative social issues, so they vote for more right wing. religion is probably one of the biggest factors that affect a person's judgement in government.

To quote (fictional) president Jed Bartlet, "The problem with the American Dream is that everyone is planning for the day when they'll be rich."
Republicans have done a great job over the years of painting themselves as the party of the everyday joe. Unfortunately, many of their fiscal policies have done a great deal of damage to the everyday joe.
Also, I don't accept the premise of your statement. "Most working class white guys" are not Republicans. Political Party affiliation is still very much regional.

The Democrats at one time were the party of the working class . As the working class became more educated some saw the basic Republican premise of making it on your own efforts a noble thought which did change party structures. Now, the vitriol found on YA against President Bush is disgusting and most comes from individuals who are immature in thought and deed. They are not worthy of polishing his shoes.

There are two parties Republican and Republican Lite. There is a false consciousness that people have to belong to one or the other because of SEC. What are either parties doing to help all citizens?

The Republicans originally wanted to free the slaves, and the Democrats were the ranch barons of the southern states.
American politics is by no means as bi-polar as people from a Westminster system of governance, let alone more united countries than the USA, might believe.
I recommend "A Beginner's Guide to American Politics" for a brief summary of the history and spaghetti (bolognese) western style of said arrangement.

Democrats got that tag by supporting labor unions years ago. Today they are the party who is against everything that made the U. S. great. Their only concern is to get back the political power and confiscate all of the working peoples money that they can get to give to those who do not want to work.

Because we're the only racist. They say if you treat a man like an animal he'll act like one. I agree with that. I also say if you treat a man like a racist, he'll act like one.
Is there any other group that has the best interest of a white middle class working male as something they want to promote? Isn't it ok for every other group to do that?
There are groups for every race and gender, except for white males. Why a group like that would be racist of course. None of those other groups are of course. Just white guys.
