64 total candies 11 red, 18 orange, 3 yellow, 11 green, 12 blue, 9 brown. After I figure the perecents out I have to take each percent and graph it onto a pie chart. Yet, when you add the perecnts up they do not equal 100% so my pie chart is not even. How do I do this?

Devide the pie chart to 64 peices. 1 peice for 1 candy. 1 peice have an angle 360 / 64 = 5d 37' 30"

Well, they should equal 100%, since you are calculating 100% of the candies you have. You are probably having rounding errors...Let's see if we can help:

Red - 11/64 = 17%
Orange - 18/64 = 28%
Yellow - 3/64 = 5%
Green - 11/64 = 17%
Blue - 12/64 = 19%
Brown - 9/64 = 14%

17 + 28 + 5 + 17 + 19 + 14 = 100

Just pay attention to your rounding rules, and you should be ok...you get a decimal answer like .047, that's 5%. An answer like .273 is 27%. If you always round correctly, it should always = 100. Hopefully you can make the pie chart. with these numbers.

Good luck!

11 | 17.1875% | 17% |
18 | 28.1250% | 28% |
03 | 04.6875% | 05% |
11 | 17.1875% | 17% |
12 | 18.7500% | 19% |
09 | 14.0625% | 14% |
64 100.0000% 100% |
The percents add to 100 whether rounded or not.
Degrees are a different matter. If you use the raw percents and round the degrees the sum is 361. If you use the rounded percents and round to degrees the sum is 359. With this particular set of numbers the degrees will not add to 360 unless uou use 3 decimal points. Take the largest wedge and add or subtract a degree to make your sum 360.

64=one whole. To find the percent for, say, the 11, use a calculator to divide 64 by 11. There's your percent. It will add up to 100%.
