It really depends on what you find interesting. This book deals heavily with slavery and struggle.
I think it is a great read.
Right up there with Grapes of Wrath.
You will appreciate the story.

It's definitely worth reading, and I think it will hold your interest. Unless you're reading it to fulfill an assignment with an approaching deadline, just take your time and take the story in at your own pace. It may be worth knowing that Jane Smiley published an article several years ago arguing that Uncle Tom's Cabin has a better claim to be the "Great American Novel" than does Huckleberry Finn. As you read, watch for evidence that slavery degraded EVERYONE it touched.

Give it a try for a couple of chapters. If it's too troublesome, put it down for awhile. Pick it up again after a year or two and you might find that you'll get more out of it. Just don't write it off as a lost cause so early in the game.
Sometimes the key is not in giving the book a chance, but instead giving yourself the chance(s) to truly appreciate it.

If its a school project then i would suggest trying to find and audio cd that has the book read to you from cd. but still the movie is very interisting even though you may have to read the book also watch the movie to understand the book.

If you are reading for pleasure you should read until you have lost interest. It is a wonderful story and it also has significant historical facts and is referenced often even these days.
If you have to read for school and you find it difficult to read then stick with it and do your best. Not every body's favorite is a bestseller for someone else.
The link below will give you some background if you are interested.

This book is a classic. It deals with slavery in the United States. You should at least try to read it. If after 100 pages you decide you do not like it, then move on but it is an important book.
Good Luck!

First, Classic: Give the kid a break. as for my answer. Yes it's worth reading. It's also difficult. But then a lot of things worthwhile are difficult. In the end you've got to decide it's it's worth the pay off.
Happy Reading!

I read it when I was a bit younger than you are. It really is a worthwhile read. It's been years, and I can still remember being riveted by parts of it. Just keep in mind when you read it that it was written in a much different era, so of course the language and "social code" was much different than now. But that just makes it even more interesting.

If you are a slow reader I would suggest you getting a shorter book.
