I would definitely try the Strike Zone. Buddies Pro Shop online has that bowling ball on special (under $100). Maybe you can purchase two high performance bowling balls with your budget from Buddies! Only thing that you have to consider with Hammer, Ebonite, and some Storm product is that you have to constantly keep the surface of the ball polished and free of oil to maintain surface friction. Brunswick and Elite can basically go longer periods of time without maintainence, which saves more money. Good luck!

First let me say that without watching you throw a ball, knowing the layout of your current equipment, or knowing the conditions you are bowling on, it's a difficult question to answer accurately. That said, if you are looking for big hook and big back end reaction, I would stay away from Brunswick equipment at this time. They have some good equipment, but the ball reaction you tend to get is more of an arc, rather than the big back end hockey stick shape reaction you are looking for. Maybe the Twisted Fury, but I've heard mixed reviews on it as well. If you are speaking of the pearl Black Widow, you will get a good amount of hook and strong back ends from it. The original Black Widow hooks quite a bit, but is a more even reacting bowling ball. In my opinion, the best big hooking, big back end ball on the market is the Ebonite Raid. I have drilled many of them for my customers and they have all liked it. Straighter players and high rev rate players. My recommendation would be to seek out your area's best qualified pro shop technician for better advice. I would be happy to suggest someone in your area if you would like. Email me and let me know what area you live in.
