I find the term rap being used when hip hop should be used, and vice versa- Why is this? learn what each means and reply i beg each of you! For it is very important that the difference is known!

Hip hop is more of a lifestyle rather than just a music genre. Music wise, hip-hop is typically multi-instrumented and less in-your-face/crude/vulgar.

Hip-Hop is the culture as a whole...music, artwork, dance, clothing, etc.
Rap is Rhythm And Poetry, the actual delivery of the lyrics in a song
The term rap music is sometimes used interchangeably with hip hop music, though rapping actually refers specifically to the practice of speaking poetically over rhythms and/or melodies
