So, in the eyes of the "church" or God or whatever, not getting married and having sex is a sin right? So let's say gay marriage passes legislature(which I hope will be soon) why is it still considered a sin if two gay ppl "wait" until marriage to have sex, as long as they are in wedlock and truly love each other? At least most gay/lesbian marriages are for love, not for money or any other greedy thing, like a lot of straight marriages are based off of.
My cousin just announced that she is going to be marrying her gf of 6 years...but she has to travel to some far away land to mae it happen because we're such a stupid, selfish courtry.
This makes me madder than hell. And more. What do you guys think?

To each there own, if you love someone be with them no matter what someone else thinks, you can't help, but follow your heart. Why else are we on this earth, but to love, no matter how different we may be. congrats to your cousin!

Oh, by their standards, it'll still be a sin, simply for being homosexual. However, given that having someone else's religion forced onto you isn't something anyone would want, including the extremely devout Christians, I think it's something we should all leave alone. What was it that Jesus said about others and treating them like you would want to be treated, hmm?

I find the idea that marriage is a specifically Christian idea hilarious. People have been getting married since long before Christianity even existed. That argument fails, and it fails spectacularly.

Also, the whole, "God made Adam and EVE," argument hysterical. God made a heterosexual couple to populate the world. Smart move. He is God, after all. But then...that really doesn't discredit homosexual relationships. At all.

Sorry for kind of using your question as a soapbox. I'll do better next time. ^_^;

P.S. I always loved this quote: "Actually, God DID make Adam and Steve. That's what you get for reading the translation."

Yes, the gay marriage argument is a very trivial one. However, it is also not right to give straight marriage such a bad stereotype. The general consensus (not mine) is that being gay is wrong so letting them get married is worse.

My solution would be to separate the word marriage from the government and replace it with civil union. Seeing how the word marriage itself comes from a religious back round; any couple (including gay and lesbian couples) that gets hitched at a court house should be declared as having a civil union and any couple that gets hitched at a church, has the choice to be called "married". Both will have equal benefits. Both will undoubtedly be happy.

*By religious i mean....religious...... not christian directly. Christianity has however adopted this term to be souly there own that's why i move for such a change. My point is what ever we can do to make this fair; that is what we should do." Read wikipedia!!!?!*

I think that marriage should be for whomever wants to marry... the church is the last place that should be giving advice IMHO. In this day and age of clergy abusing power and abuses, why should anyone listen to MAN about doing something that God allows.

Marriage isn't defined in the bible. MAN reads the bible and decides on what he wants to see of it.

As far as laws go, everyone should have a civil union. Even straight people. All it is, to me, is a business contract between two people. The ceremony is for show.

Unfortunately not everyone is opened minded like us. I am in my late 40's been married for 33 years to a wonderful man. I personally cannot see anything wrong if you are in love with someone you want to share your life with. I hope that one day everybody can have what I have. Respect without judgment, Love without fear, and caring without pain.

PS
I've never heard of so many judgmental people in my life go ahead hide being the bible, It's God to judge not you.

Hello,
I think it is legal in Oregon, we had it on the news a while back where many gay couples were getting married.
I do not have a problem with it.
AND I am a voter too LOL! Bring it on I will vote yes for the gay community to marry.

i agree. and shouldnt the church and country be for love. no matter who the people in love are. and waiting to have sex until marriage should (if anything) make it better in the eyes of the church.

but my aunts have been together for like 16 years, and have a daughter, and they are happy whether married or not, they said its the love that matters and the country needs to open their eyes and realize there is nothing wrong with that.

The bible says something along the lines of "a man will lay with nothing but a women" (not even close to a direct quote...) But that is why, regardless of legal marriage status, it is a sin in the christian's eyes.

I think they will still claim that homosexuality is a "sin". However they must take a look inside. When the catholic church is moving pedophile from church to church so that the heat never truly gets out. That is sure Christlike to me.

Sadly, I'm pretty sure even if the law is passed for all 50 states, it'll still be a sin to have a gay marriage. You can't "mess with God's words".
