When you tell people that there are innocent people in jail or on death row and some people who are guilty but was found innocent they don't believe you. Although our justice system is pretty reliable there are still gliches. There have been studies showing that between 5 to 10 percent have been wrongly covicted. Even with forensic science there are still mistakes. There are cases that don't even have DNA to work with. People have been released from death row but sometimes they are only found innocent after they were executed. There are people who did the crime walking in the streets. I know these cases are rare but it can happen.

More than half are convicted by plea bargaining. If they don't plead guilty threatened with a greater crime. This is justice denied.

In Illinois DNA proved 25% of death row inmates were proven innocent. Stopping the executions.

No system is perfect, but compared to some others, ours is basically ok. Yes, there are innocent people locked up, the percentage you gave sounds high though, I would say under 5%.

Wouldn't it be better to have 95% of the guilty locked up than not at all? I know that sucks for those 5% that aren't, but sometimes those folks caught up in the system and found guilty aren't exactly angels either.

Everyone makes mistakes, even those who defend the guilty.
Human beings we are, idiots we are, we were not born perfect, if we were it would be a very dull world.

However we will continue to make them, Why because we do and unfortunately we can.
No one likes to be told they are wrong, Not even the President of the USA or the Queen and King of any country.
It starts from the Top and weedles itself down to us.

Politicians are the worst and lie constantly, so what do you do.
One rule for them and another for us. You can't win.

This is not a popular topic to begin with.

It is hard enough to get someone convicted and behind bars.

Yes, there probably are some that are innocent, but the truth be told they all feel like victims, every one of them!
