I work as a cashier. I have been working there a year and a haft. about 6 months ago my boss's son's Girlfriend started working. Well I have went from 47 to 27 hours a week. And hers have stayed the same. My boss told me She was cutting hours because it was slow. BUT WHY keep that girls hours the same! I complain alot. Because I do alot for my boss. Ive been there when no one has. Heck, I was the only one working on thanksgiving. I have to support 3 people, Pay 350 in bills by the end of this month plus buy christmas. There is no way I can do it if im working 27 hours a week, for 6 in hour. If i got another job, I wouldnt have a paycheck till after Xmas. Im so angry, why cut my hours but not hers? I have been there longer and work better. Some uplifting words can help. I feel like im going crazy. AHHHHHHH...

Some times we have to do what we have to in order to make it. Have you explained that you will need more hours to make ends meet? Stay there til after Christmas and bare with it. Then start looking for a better job. Don't leave this one til you have something else. He will miss you when you leave.

She left you hanging so find another job and leave her hanging. The only person that does not have to take a lot of shlt is the one working minium wage you can always walk across the street and find another job.
Don't quit this job until you get another one. A working person can get a job easier than an unemployed one. Working only 27 hours you should have time to get another job.

unfortunately blood is thicker than water.Your boss wants to make his son happy. And I'm sure that you are more knowledgeable than the new girl.Just continue doing your work.Explain the situation about your heavy responsibilities to your boss. And look for another job maybe this happening was the push you need. You have more to offer another company.

You now know your boss has no loyalty to you. You also know he is not a nice person.

Get out of retail, entry level in an office and improve your skills in order to make aliving.

I think you needed an 'ace in the hole".Thats waitress work. You always have money in your pocket everyday, and they always have plenty of work.

I would confront your boss on this one.
tell him like it is.

I think you could call the labor board, in your state, other than that, is the place owned by your boss, or is it a corp store??? you could call the human resource dept, if its a corp owned store i.e. Mcdonalds etc. that's not fair, but it sound's like you are being used!!! big time
