Abortion involves people who cannot even agree on terms.
The fetus isn't a child yet, but abortion-haters keep talking about killing children as though the fetus was something it is not.
Having said that, anti-abortionists keep looking for absolute proof of something that philosophically, medically, and religiously is very difficult to prove. When does life start?
If you are Jewish, the fetus becomes a separate person when the umbilicus is cut. If you are any one of several Protestant denominations, the fetus's first breath is the start of life. This comes from something in the Old Testament, I forget exactly where. Other religions talk about "quickening" - the first movement of the fetus inside the mother. There are those who talk about conception, but even the Catholic Church doesn't QUITE take it that far. Has to do with whether the "soul" has been embodied yet, because if it has (i.e. life begins at conception) then EVERY stillbirth, every spontaneous abortion, every late period is potentially a soul for which last rites must be performed.
Every one of those religions says it is right - but that can't be true. So we must conclude that religious belife cannot be the answer - because it is not uniform. This leaves law to define when a person gains rights under our constitution. And that law says very little - but what it DOES say implies "at birth, not before." So... abortion doesn't kill a child, it terminates a fetus. But you have freedom of religion, so if YOUR religion says that abortion kills a child, it is a matter of your religious belief, not of anything scientific.
And that means that the justification includes freedom of religion for those persons whose denomination uses a very late moment as the start of life.

There is no justification, so I can't help you.
just plain jim, that's just plain nonsense. The law CURRENTLY allows warrantless wiretaps, condemnation of private property for private "better" uses, and the death penalty. As has been said before, the law FORMERLY allowed for slavery, and DENIED WOMEN THE RIGHT TO VOTE.
So if the law is our only measure, the next question is, the law WHEN?
That's different than justification, which asks for the inherent, objective, absolute-truth basis for abortion.
Which, per your answer, there is none. Except that the law allows it.
If the law allowed the cops to cuff and search citizens on the street, would that be justified in your mind?

The question of abortion comes down to the question of is the fetus a person or not.
If it's a person then abortions are never justified, You can't kill a person because his father was a rapist.
If it's not a person then abortion is justified for any reason.
I say we can't know if it's a person or not and it's not the government's job to decide. And until someone can prove it's a person, each person must decide that for themself.

It is womans right.
That is how the law stands
If you want to find anti abortion ammo, don't look at me.
I feel, that anti abortion people don't have a leg to stand on if they don't adopt all the unwanted children. Especially the ones in our foster care system, etc.
Till then, their arguments don't mean a damned thing to me, till they put their values where their heart is.
=========
I fail to understand the thumbs down, when it is apparent, what I am saying, is the anti abortion crowd is full of contradictions.
In as much as many will fight for the fetus, but will murder the adult, as in war and capital punishment.
========
Pam Sheer,
What you have tried to do badly, it compared this to issues that have no baring on what I said.
I will make this as plain as day, "EITHER PUT UP OR SHUT UP." Adopt all the unwanted kids, the ones that no one wants to take responsibility for except the state, and only then, will I pay attention. I keep hearing about personal responsibility, then you make it personally responsible to adopt those kids.
If you want to argue personal responsibility starts with everyone, here is two things to ponder. Birth control fails and not everyone is like you. If you want everyone to be like you, then I suggest you form your own totalitarian state.
If anyone wants to ask me if I have done my part, Yes I have. My adopted son, who is now 22, was born with fetal alcohol syndrome.
Now, all you anti abortion people, get to work, there are a lot of kids that need love. If you haven't done your part, then its time to give some love to those that don't have it.
===========
Peace
Jim

If the woman can live with the decision to have an abortion who has the right to say she can't. It is far better to terminate an unwanted child than to see it slammed up against a wall and put into a locker for 2 months and dumped into the ocean.

Its not to justify or not. There are only two views on the subject. Its murder or its a choice. both can be right or wrong. Its personal for each person. Therefore your question cannot be answered. Its legal since Roe v Wade but that does not justify it.

The justification is this:
1. Until a baby is born, it is not a baby, not a person, and has no rights, not even to life.
2. Until a baby is born, it is part of a woman's body. The government has no right to tell a woman what they can and can not do with their body.
Not saying I agree with it, but that is the justification that is used.

sure it should be stopped , right after you put your money where your mouth is and adopt those 900,000 kids in foster care in America . well.... I'm waiting . i think YOU should be personally /financially responsible for a unwanted multiple handicapped inner city crack baby. maybe your church group could all chip in for the adoption and bringing up . its approx $100,000 from 0-18 yo .
