I had a girlfriend in high school. I was a 17 senior, she was a 15 sophomore. we had been dating for a couple of months. on my 18th birthday she gave me my present. best present I've ever gotten? still can't figure it out? we had sex for the first time together. her birthday is EXACTLY 2 weeks after mine, and for her birthday I got her a gift and returned the favor. We continued doing this. We're no longer dating. I still see her around every once in a while, like when I wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, take the kids to school, get home from work, go to bed at night, etc. Point is, I married that girl. Love her with all my heart and our 2 BEAUTIFUL daughters. This is kinda stupid, but if we got divorced tomorrow, could she say something about having sex when I was 18 and she was 15? and Could I get in trouble for it and wind up on the sex offender list or not?

I'm not gonna divorce her! this is simply hypothetical. besides, In my opinion, it's not that big of a deal, since this was almost 12 years ago

I doubt a prosecutor would take the case or a jury would convict you.

I'm not an expert, but here's my understanding.

When an adult has sex with a minor, it's called "statutory rape." This means it does not matter whether or not the sex was consensual. It is rape whether the girl said yes or no. Also, it is a criminal offense, meaning that it is not necessary for the victim to lodge a complaint. Theoretically the state can prosecute at it's own discretion, regardless of the wishes of the victim. Whether the state is LIKELY to prosecute in a case like this is another question.

The other thing to consider is the statute of limitations. I don't know the specific limitation for this offense, but after some defined period of time, the state can no longer prosecute if it has not initiated an action. How long ago did these incidents take place?

I'm sure a lawyer could answer this better than me.

I suck at legal stuff and I don't know but it seems that everyone agrees you can. That sucks lol You blackmailed yourself lol Anyways I found this question really interesting. I wonder if it would depend on the age restrictions of the state at the time. if it was legal to have sex with a 15 year old while being 18 back then then maybe that would work. Also is there any time limit? Was there parental consent? Wonder if there are other factors which might weigh in on it. Hmmm

If more than one age is given then the law within that country or state varies according to region or circumstances. In particular, some countries have regional laws that may overrule the federal law. Also in some cases the age of consent is lower when partners are of a similar age. Where the symbol ? is used, information is either incomplete or unavailable.

In some countries the age of consent is higher for those taking part in commercial sex. In many countries the age of consent is higher when one partner is in a position of trust with regard to the other, or when one partner takes advantage of the other's immaturity. Age of consent laws often do not apply when the partners are married.

In this table, male-female sex is defined as vaginal or anal sex, and male-male sex is defined as anal sex. Other sexual activities may be legal at a lower age.

In some countries the time allowed for the girl to lodge a report is 7 years from the incident. In others it may even be longer, maybe 10 or 15.

And she's your wife, why would she lodge a report against you unless you made her furious?

Its a little of wrong mistake youmade when young, butgood thing that you are regretful.

that would be the difference between possible and probable. Is it possible, yes depending on your state law. Is it probable, no. I doubt that a prosecutor would be willing to go to trial on a case like this.

The best thing to do here is to make sure she is the happiest woman in the world. That is your job and should occupy your time. Don't worry about the what ifs. Sounds like you are quite the lucky man.

She would have to press charges against you, but it sounds like your two have a very good relationship anyways, so a divorce doesn't look like a thing to worry about at this point it time. You could always ask an attorney just to be on the safe side, if you are really worried about it. Good luck and best wishes with you and your family.

I doubt it very much, She would have to be an absolute ninny if so. Besides the judge would thrown it out of court.
She could get rather nasty if there was a case whereby she wanted the children and there had to be custody hearing.
There might be something in that. However time will tell.

There is nothing worse than a womans scorn. So keep her happy if you love her.
Good luck

Probably not. There is a statute of limitations for things like that. Depends on what state you're in, but it's usually around 5 years. Assuming this is more than 5 years old (or so), you're in the clear.

Now, if her parents had brought charges against you when you were 18, you certainly could've gone to jail for it.

There is a statute of limitations on having sex with a minor. It depends on which state you are in, but I believe it is anywhere from 1-7 years. So 7 years after that time period you could not be charged with anything.

First of all it depends on where you live. A lot of states have more specific laws about interactions between one person over 18 and one person under 18, if for example there is less than a 3 year gap.

Second of all, she would have to prove that to a jury, just like anything else.
