I'm not too terribly old, but I like shows from before my time because they're better written and acted. Such as, All in the Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Carol Burnett, The Jeffersons, etc. Hands down better than anything on today.

I'm not older but, I agree that in to days program line-up there are some really ridiculous, shows, tonight for the first time in my life i watched survivor, i was shocked at how dumb, it was, i'll admit that the crime drama too, have gotten out of hand 3 CSI, 3 Law&Order, Shark, Cold Case, With Out a Trace, and whats worse is that all the sitcoms, like 2+1/2 men are continually about little more than sex, it's very odd.

Dang girl, your on a roll tonight! Ok, yes the 80's were awesome and I wish they would have never went away (although in some aspects they are coming back). The only thing I like about television now that they didn't have back then is the rescue/emergency/hospital shows. For some reason I really enjoy watching that trama stuff...the real shows, not that fake crap.

I think the variety of shows is better now. all we have to do is get rid of the talk shows and reality shows and TV might not be such a wasteland. Oh and get rid of the award shows too. thats nothing more than a mutual admiration society. actors and singers patting each other on the back.
There is such a tremendous potential for entertainment and it hasn't been touched.

well 80s shows covered less topics too. Full house is like Barney to kids today. I personally hate talk shows after they made the fights stop on Jerry. fortunatly 4 d kids they have the internet so they can find what they want. however cartoons are better these days.[not just bc the graphics]

Or shows from the 70'ies, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Sonny & Cher, Maude, Mork & Mindy, MASH, One Day at A Time, Alice.... written by writers, that did not dig for leftovers and make re-makes.

Yes, we had better shows for the time and a lot less channels! Hell I even remember when we only had 3 channels and PBS! Man, I'm getting old!
