Go to www.bestbuy.com, and click package deals. You should find a computer meeting those requirements including a carrying bag, cooling station, and mouse for a little over $700. Hope I helped and have a Merry Christmas!!!

You might have trouble finding something with those specs in your price range.

You'll have to make do with an AMD Turion (and probably not one that'll even come close to a Core 2), smaller hard drive and 6 cell battery.

You don't need to buy a cooling pad for it though so put the money that would have gone into that into the laptop and you might also want to consider using a wired instead of wireless mouse (or an old USB mouse you have lying around) or even just using the laptop's pointing device (though since pretty much every laptop at that price range lacks a pointing stick I can understand you wanting to get a mouse).

You should probably also consider whether you really need a router for it because if you don't then you can spend that money on the computer.

A case though you should not avoid buying, you're going to need one (and laptops at that price range tend not to be designed to survive a fall).

Well it will be hard to find a laptop within $600 that has all the specs you have mentioned. The minimum price for such a first hand laptop should be something around $900. I always recommend HP Pavilion laptops, but you are going to have a hard time finding one within your range. Of course, you can strip down your requirements to 1GB RAM and 80GB HDD (keeping the others) and look for a suitable HP or Toshiba laptop. You won't be able to run Windows Vista properly on 1GB RAM, but then Windows XP is pretty good for multimedia itself.

:)

For $400-$600 you not going to get anything near what you are asking for. You need atleast $1000 to get what you are asking for, the thing that makes your laptop expensive is the 1.8Ghz Core 2 Duo. The Toshiba Satellite A200-TR6 is close to what you are asking and it is $760, you can look around and find some good deals on laptops but not for less than $800.
