I had a dream that I ( a man in leather out doors clothes of about the 18th century) was trying to make my way through a densly grown tropical forrest. I was (it was me but I was a man)
was chopping and walking and chopping and walking . I was making headway but it was slow and tedious. Could it have been a past life memory or wishful thinking?

Have you been overly passive lately? Letting people get their way at the cost of your own wishes.
It just seems like your dominant side is struggling and getting nowhere. That's the impression I get.

Maybe you are feeling or wanting to feel powerful about something (being a man chopping and walking) you are doing or wanting to do but frustrated at how long it is taking (being slow and tedious) to get what you want - satisfaction or a goal of some kind.

I don't think it's a past life memory though because of it being so repetitive.

I wouldn't read too much into your dreams. They're simply your brain turning off its reality filter and letting itself run unrestrained. Dream interpretation is a proven pseudoscience with no reliability and no applications to real life.

Also, memories are stored as the patterns of connections between your neurons. Minutes after you die, your neurons shrivel up, and all that information is lost like data being wiped from a hard drive. Memories are not supernatural in any way, and there is no way for a memory from one life to carry over into another. Simply put, past-life memories are physically impossibile.

I have all kinds of weird dreams myself. Sometimes I dream in four spacial dimensions (don't ask me to point towards the 4th dimension). And in some dreams there are people in my dreams who I know very well, but they exist only in that one dream--not in any others, and not in real life. And some dreams are just so weird that they would make an episode of the Twilight Zone look boringly normal. But they're all just dreams.

It is indeed amazing what our brains can come up with. So go along for the ride and enjoy your dreams, just don't take them too seriously, because they simply weren't meant to be.
