An anesthesiologist is a doctor who administers anesthetics to people so they will avoid pain due to incisions, operations, broken bones etc. Anesthetics cover many gasses and drugs which can be given to reduce pain. Therefore a doctor in the profession usually has to study the effects of certain anesthetics, determine which one to use in surgery that will last the duration of the operation. The patient's condition will also determine which is proper for him.
