In a film or on stage? Under what circumstances would you do it? Under what circumstances would you not? Do you think you would have the guts to actually go through with it? What would you fear most? What would you insist upon?

I realize that everyone's reasons are different, which is why I asked the question.
I did not ask "Should I do nudity." I am interested in other people's thoughts.

I think nudity on stage would be harder for me, but even nudity on film would be tough.
I would consider it if I really liked the script and the character. The nudity would have to be important to the plot/character development. I think in most cases nudity is not necessary and does not serve the piece. I would have to feel very comfortable and confident about my body. And I would not want to do nudity if it was for a sex scene or prelude to sex.
I would fear that I would regret my decision later. I would fear others holding it against me or having people angry with me for doing it. I would fear the footage getting into the wrong hands and ending up on porn sites or nude celebrity type sites.
I would insist upon a closed set and agreement upon what I am willing to show. I would like to have some artistic control over the scene and final approval.
It seems like such a scary thing to me, but then I remind myself of all of the actors I admire who have done nudity - Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Monica Bellucci... I would hope if the role and production was right, I would have the guts.

I wouldn't, even if it were a high status director. To make sure I would ask first and/or ask to read the script before I make any decisions. I may even include it on my terms for my agent to be aware of. It won't get you further in your acting career either. It will probably make even less appealing if your a new comer in acting since obviously you didn't have any say so or power to tell the director no, desperate. As a matter of fact most film directors and also actors tend to stay away from nudity. They all feel if they show a little and leave some for the imagination. It will be much much more appealing and more will come to see.

This is a seriously loaded question.
I have been nude on stage (on purpose, lol), and I can tell you it is simultaneously the most terrifying and the most liberating experience.
BUT(and this is a Big But), I am Male. Nude Females are viewed through different sets of eyes. Not fair, but there it is. Fear of Comparison, not Fear of Lechery is the lot of a nude Male.
As a certified Old Fart, I would not now be so unkind to my audience.

I would consider it ONLY if it truly added to the storyline. I don't think (as a guy) people are nearly as excited to see me in full frontal nudity (any guy), nearly as much as they are a "good looking," young, woman. Would I have the guts? I don't know. Biggest fear, uncontrolled arousal, laughter from the audience or, having my family see it. I think most of the time, regardless of the sex or age, it's just not REALLY necessary for the story. Sex sells.

That would totally depend on the role, and the reason for the nudity.

Each person has to work that out for themselves. Why one would is not why another would.
