(Mothers, excluding childbirth)

I think mine would have to be when I had appendicitis. It hurt like hell!!

I excluded childbirth because I know that's the most painful thing ever!

I was also in a car crash and hurt my back badly, but I was in shock so I don't remember the pain. My appendix hurt a lot and I wasn't in shock.

Well, when I was 5 I had appendicitis, also. It hurt so bad. I didn't tell my mom anything hurt also because I was in Florida on vacation and didn't want to ruin my vacation. Well, it ended up hurting really badly. And, of course, since I was 5 i took the pain harder than it really was. At the hospital, the nurse said that if I had told my mom any later, I would have died.

Also, last summer {when I was 13}, I was ridding a bike and my younger brothers' made this jump and I went off it once and I was fine. But I wanted to go off it again {for some stupid reason}. Well, the second time I didn't go fast enough off the jump so the bike didn't go up for the jump. Well, I fell and didn't have a helmet on. I whacked my head on the ground and it killed. I also, pulled muscles in my legs and it killed. I couldn't stand and couldn't walk. That was one of the very few times my younger brothers saw me cry and ever will see be cry. I rarely cry in front of them. I was bawling. To make matters worse it was July 4th and I was supposed to hang out with my friends and they were at my house when the thing happened. However, they were really comforting and made me feel better. They ended up having a sleepover that night but then all of us had one a few days later.

They both hurt like hell.

I don't remember this, but when I was almost a year old, I had an appendicitis. The doctors didn't know what it was, so they didn't operate on it until the last moment. I must have been in a hell of a lot of pain. The most pain I remember is having to go to the hospital. There, they stuck a catheter in me. It must have been fear, and the fact they were sticking a tube into my pisser, but I was in so much pain I was screaming.

Most of the answers here pertained to the physical pain. A physical pain is a temporary (in most cases) phenomenon and heals sooner or later whereas a psychological pain is something which doesn't heal easily.

By nature (honestly) I am a helpful person and used to go out of the way to help others even without asking for it and at a cost (not necessarily monetary) and my friends will vouch for it (now I have reduced it a lot), however, once in a while someone would doubt my intentions and then it hurt a lot. The pain of being suspect, while being a good Samaritan, is of the worst kind and I have gone through it very often. (I have learnt lessons but old habits die hard you know.)

No amount of pain compares to my car accident. I was t-boned by an 18 wheeler. (that had serious air brakes issues) I had a slight spinal cord injury and it hurt throughout my entire body constantly for about 3-4 weeks. (i was on bed rest the first 2 weeks to make sure that i wouldn't risk becoming quadriplegic but the next 2 weeks of school were painful)

In eighth grade (last year) one of my best friends accidentally made me trip over a door stop, unfortunately I happen to be tall for my age and there was another door stop which I landed on on my upper arm. It hurt so bad I was almost collapsing, I'm not one of those people who cries over everything though, I stood up and started joking about it and laughing (strange, I know), I told my friend I was nearly collapsing and laughed about (I'm really weird sometimes), anyway, I couldn't lift my arm even straight out to the side for about two weeks, my arm didn't fully heal for about a month or two, if I remember correctly. I think I may have cracked my bone, for some reason I didn't go to the doctor though, I never go to the doctor for something like that (kind of dumb). Oh, and also last year (unlucky year) I accidentally moved a bone in my neck and I'm STILL going to the chiropractor. It hurt pretty bad whenever I moved my neck, I had to keep my neck bent at this certain angle for hours, I couldn't move my head more than and inch or two in most directions, and it still took me hours to be able to move it at all. And I literally did move the bone out of it's proper position, I heard a pop sound and couldn't bend it, all this because I bent my head to the side too quickly while I was lying down with my head on a pillow. I also fell on ice once on my thumb, my thumb didn't fully heal for more than a month. I didn't cry for any of those things, I have a high pain tolerance. I express my pain inside my mind, however strange that may seem.

Well, childbirth IS the most excruciating pain ever, but since you excluded it...I was electrocuted once when I somehow (accidentally) put my wet finger in a socket. That really hurt.

Hi Wabby, Gee, I think it is the third surgery i had on my right knee. They had to remove my knee cap and did a totally knee replacement. I think the most pain i had to deal with was therapy with pulling and holding my leg down as far as it would go. I had tons of tears rolling down my face it HURT that bad. It took me a full year of painful hard work to get my knee and leg to bend normal. The pain and all were worth it.
A Friend,
poppy1

P.S. Wabby the pain of child birth is easily forgotten. I have 2 daughters and this is true. You can ask any mother. Merry X-mas All.

In October of 1995 I was serving aboard the USS Enterprise. I was travelling across the Chesapeak Bay Bridge/Tunnel, when I lost control of my SUV. My truck hit the side of the bridge, flipped, and fell 35 feet top-side to the water below.

There was so much trauma to me because the water was only 4 ft. deep! I had also drown. 2 Fisherman had to use CPR!

My neck was broken in 2 places. I had a compound fracture on my right arm. Lost my hearing and sight in my left eye. Broke my nose. I also got mengitis, which gave me a fever of 105 degrees for 4 weeks. Drs/ told my mom to make funeral arrangements w/ only a 20% survival.

I have been through 15 operations and 2 years of rehab...

Don't speak to me of PAIN!!!

I had appendicitis as well. The worst pain, however, was a kidney stone. They gave me morphine until I passed the stone. I think how each person deals with pain is different. I think women can deal with pain better than men - maybe because of child birth.

Having a baby is not that painful. AS a matter a fact, I had a local and nothing else. And, my baby was 8lbs 2oz of the cutest little red headed baby I ever saw.

Mine was a bad tooth that had to have a root canal. The dentist didn't give me enough pain killer and I felt the drill into my jaw.
I flinched and he quit drilling to give me another nova cane injection.
